1. Irene Samy Fahim

 

 

Irene Samy Fahim is an associate Professor, Industrial and Service Engineering and Management department, Nile University Cairo, Egypt. She is the Director for Smart Engineering systems research center, Nile University.   She won the state encouragement award for women 2020, and Hazem Ezzat Research excellence award, 2021 and Loreal UNESCO for Women in Science 2021 Egypt young talents program. She received a grant for Egypt Higher Education Climate change partnerships Grants in collaboration with Nottingham University and the British council. She also received a grant for capacity building for “Women in Science and Engineering” from IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.

She is currently working on investigating organic solar cells parameters: extraction and characterization techniques, effect of thickness and temperature on flexible organic solar cell performance, performing several experimental and material processing procedures, including the use of additives, annealing, and polymer chain engineering in terms of their impact on the parameters of organic solar cells. She is also working on developing novel polymer composites membranes for industrial applications such as food packaging.

 

 

 

2. Juweria M. Ibrahim

 

 

Deputy Director in OWS Development Fund

I am Juweria Ibrahim, a social activist for women’s and girls’ rights. I established a firm committed to eliminating gender inequities, which are the most pressing social issues in the Somali community. I have a multi-sector expert with over 10 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, including community development and lifesaving emergency responses in Ethiopia’s Somali Region and Kenya. I am driven by a desire to improve the lives of girls and women in my community via civic involvement and educational growth.

I am currently working as the Deputy Director of one of the country’s most prominent national non-governmental organizations. I am also a Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders alumni in the Civic Engagement Leadership track for 2021, a holder of a master’s in business administration, and an awardee of champions of girls’ education.   

I am a member of the Somali Regional States Council. In addition, I am the founder and owner of Mount Visionary Academy private school in Jigjiga, which is entirely sponsored by family and friends. The goal of founding this school is to provide free and high-quality education to underprivileged girls whom I want to help acquire the greatest education possible and achieve in life. I believe that education is the cornerstone of a prosperous future.

 

 

3. Mohamed Camara

 

Mohamed Camara is a social communicator who has over ten-year experience in the community development field. He has served several international organizations in diverse sectors: from mining to humanitarian activities and development programs. Currently, Mohamed is employed as community development specialist by the United Nations Development Program where he focuses on women empowerment and gender equality in Guinea’s rural areas. In 2019, he implemented a program that trained 197 people including 131 women as nursery gardeners and planters. The following year, he succeeded to mobilize 5 different communities to plant 7,200 trees.

Besides his duties at UNDP, Mohamed voluntarily leads the Guinean Organization for Environment Protection, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to prevent the degradation of environment through collecting and reusing plastic wastes; reforestation; promoting the concept of Eco-citizenship and engaging rural communities in sustainable water resources management. In 2017, Mohamed organized the first “GREEN DAY” (a yearly activity of his NPO) during what he succeeded to mobilize scores of young people to collect and reuse more 50 Kg of plastic wastes in his own community. 

Mohamed is driven by his burning desire to maintain harmony between humanity and nature. 

 

 

4. Mike Skosana

Mandela Washington Fellowship 2021, YALI Alumni 2017 (UNISA School of Business and Leadership), MWF Alumni Enrichment Institutes 2022 and
ACTIVATOR 2019. Mike Skosana has more than 12 years of experience as a youth professional
development advocate and social entrepreneur. He is a former facilitator for Google digital skills for Africa, computer lab
specialist and assistant centre manager at MAC Centre in South Africa. Through his company Crystal MG Trading and Projects, he aims at enhancing traditional ECD educational methodologies to integrate computer science as part of a comprehensive educational offering in partnership with owners of licenced ECD centres.

Mike is adamant about using technology to advance education in his country. Mike intends to use his knowledge and network to continue expanding his social enterprise and his youth organization to reach more young people in underprivileged communities across Africa.
